'TUNNEL'

'Tunnel', is the new short film from Southernman Films and Stormlight Pictures.

To date 'Tunnel' has screened at the following events;

- The Corona International Cork Film Festival 2009

- Electric Picnic 2009

- Filmmakers Network Fringe Fleadh at the Galway Film Fleadh 2009

- Underground Cinema's inaugural Short Film Night 2009

Shot in and around Cork City and the Jack Lynch Tunnel, 'Tunnel' was graded by the world famous 'The Mill' ( http://www.the-mill.com/ ) in London and the Sound was mixed at Secret Garden Studios (http://www.secretgardenstudios.com/ ) in Cork.

'Tunnel' stars Mary-Louise McCarthy, James Browne, Nuala Fitzgerald and Pascal Scott.

PENNY

'PENNY'

After a successful year of Festival Screenings 'Penny' won Best Drama at the Corona Fastnet International Short Film Festival and was screened on RTE 2 Ireland's National Broadcaster.

'Penny' tells the story of a young teenage girl who discovers she is pregnant on the morning she is to sit her first leaving cert. exam.

'Penny' is an Independent Production starring Mary-Louise McCarthy as Penny and Pascal Scott as Penny's father, Finbar. The film also stars Victor Burke, Ciara O'Callaghan and Martina Carroll.

THE SIGN

'The Sign' is a two minute short horror film starring Roisin O'Donovan, Emmet O'Riabhaigh and Declan Patrick.

'The Sign' screened at the 2008 Cork International Film Festival and The 2009 Babelgum Online International Film Festival.

Daughters of Rome

'Daughters of Rome' is a co-production between StormLight and Southernman Films. This ambitious and gripping short film set against a Roman incursion into Ireland in the year 82 AD is currently in post-production.

'NOTT'

An Adaptation

'Nott' is an historical drama set in the year 1814. Nott is based on a true story and is adapted from the book of the same name, written by author Snoo Sinclair.

John Nott was a native of Killarney, Co. Kerry who joined the British Navy in 1801 at the age of fourteen. In 1805 Nott was serving onboard the Dispatches Picket HMS Pickle and was present at the Battle of Trafalgar. In 1808 Nott was stationed in the West Indies and was promoted to Lieutenant after the reduction of Martinique. In 1814, having been put ashore on half-pay, John Nott seeks out the love of his life and marries her. He returns to Kerry with his new wife Betsy in an attempt to leave the troubles and hardship of his naval career behind him.

This is where the script 'NOTT' picks up John Nott's story;

Nott rents land off Landlord, Francis Bland (whose descendant was the former chairman of the BBC, Christopher Bland) and settles down near the town of Sneem. Francis Bland is very friendly with local Landlord, Maurice 'Hunting Cap' O'Connell and his famous lawyer nephew, Daniel O'Connell. These men are notorious smugglers and they become increasingly interested in Nott’s naval reputation and sailing abilities. It isn't long before Nott is caught up in the dangers and excitement of smuggling contraband on the rocky coast of South Kerry.

Nott is an historical drama with a heartfelt love-story and gripping action and excitement. It features such historical figures as Britain’s greatest Naval Commander, Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson and Ireland’s greatest ever politician, ‘The Liberator’, Daniel O’Connell.

'Heart Trouble' tells the story of Mal, an information thief who gets unwittingly dragged deeper and deeper into the dark seedy underworld of modern day Europe - gangsters, drugs, body organ theft, money and dangerous women.

'Long Is the Way' - Tommy is an alcoholic in his mid-twenties. On the road with a tennis court construction crew he receives news of his mother's death. He makes his way home down the West Coast of Ireland from Galway to Kerry. His journey leads him back to his past and the root of his problems. Along the way he is both touched by and touches the lives of others and he realises it is a long hard road to salvation.

'An Eye for an Eye' (aka REVENGE)

'AN EYE FOR AN EYE...('Revenge') (2001 Colour 13 mins.)

When Mal fights the bullies in school they crucify him in the local woods. Mal falls to the ground and his face is badly damaged. When Mal returns to school he takes his final and horrible revenge - an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth!

Stars Aiden Condron, Eoin Slattery and John Murphy.

- Broadcast on RTE 2 as part of the Short Screen Series during July 2006.
- Screened at the 13th Galway Film Fleadh.
